The Ibarran Pepper or Guindilla de Ibarra, is a variety of pepper predominately grown in the Basque village of Ibarra. Up until now, this variety of pepper was consumed either fried fresh or pickled and Arane has given a new way to consume and enjoy the pepper; Red pepper spice. A pepper spice that is apt for sauces, meats, fish, vegetables…. adding flavour without burning the mouth.

Origin

100% of the production is done on site in the Arane farm, our family home. A
farmhouse from the 16th century located in the heart of Ibarra where for centuries the land has been nurtured and cultivated. Arane is our home where we don’t just work hard but also enjoy the blessings of life with friends and family.

100% artisanal

The production process is completely artisanal. The Guindilla pepper is planted and let to ripen on the vine until its completed maturation, which is to say until the Guindilla is red. Once picked we dry, grind and bottle the pepper in our onsite facilities.
Since childbirth we have been lucky to be able to eat the best fruits and
vegetables that our land has provided and know the true flavour of what food is meant to taste like. This is one of the reasons we are very conscience that what we are producing must have the flavour and smell worthy of the house we were raised in.

Sustainible
farming

We are strong believers of sustainable farming and we are proud to offer a product artisanal where the impact on nature and our community is at a minimum.

WHO WE
ARE

The Arane 1559 project was started by three siblings from the Arane farmhouse. For generations, our family has been dedicated to agriculture and we lived this lifestyle first hand. After wandering for here to there (studies, work, travels…), we found ourselves back were we started from, Arane. That is when the idea of
creating something new using what we knew, blossomed. After much energy and
investigation, we decided to start production of a red pepper spice with the famous Guindilla de Ibarra.
